Music & Us: Our New Playlist

Image
Hi everyone! I am so excited to share some of my music interests from around the world! I have really enjoyed learning about music from different cultures from around the world and I appreciate how much it has grown my playlist.  One of my favorite cultures we learned about was one of our most recent ones being Australia. I have always been fascinated by Australia and I would love to visit one day. Something that stood out to me was was the didjeridoo that the people played in their culture. It was so interesting to learn how they used that instrument and it was so unique! I never knew about Australian culture nor that aboriginal Australians played such a cool instrument. I love that this is also such a traditional piece of music for their culture. Here is a video of someone playing a didjeridoo from the heart and mind festival from Lewis Burns!  Another culture I am so interested in is a place we have not covered yet. Brazil has always been so interesting and beautiful ...

Music and Family

Image
Hi everyone! Music in my family has always been super important to us. Growing up, I was aways going to concerts and music festivals, listening to music 24/7 in my house, in the car, etc. with my siblings, parents, and even grandparents. Someone who I have always had an interest for their music taste is my mom. During this interview my mom talks about her love for 80's music and the things she listened to growing up.  During this conversation with my mom, I asked her 6 questions. The first question I asked was "what artist did you listen to most growing up and in your teens?" She replied with "mostly, I listened to Prince and Michael Jackson". She also listened to Janet Jackson as well as the Jackson Five. She continued with "these two artists changed the music industry and how I looked at music forever because of how incredible they were. It was my dream to see them live, and I actually got to live that dream out front row at a Michael Jackson concert in ...

Music And Traditions

Image
Since I was little, I have always loved music. I would know all the words to my favorite songs and make my mom play them in the car 24/7. There are many traditions in my family revolving around music and I'm so excited to share them with you.  My whole family has been in love with music for as long as I can remember. In this blog, I will talk about two traditions that we have in my family.  For my first tradition, I have talked about it a few times in class is going to Taylor Swift's album tours. My first concert was the Speak Now Tour (the first ever world tour she had gone on), by winning tickets on the radio. At around 6 years old, Taylor Swift singlehandedly took over mine and my sisters worlds. The Speak Now Tour is really one of the first memories in my childhood I can remember and because of this concert, it started a tradition to go on every single tour she's been on since no matter how far we have to travel to do so. One of my favorite songs off of Speak ...

Music and me

Hi everyone! My name is Nicholette Young. I'm a sophomore at converse and I'm on the Acrobatics and Tumbling team! I have a bit of music background, but not much. I taught myself how to play the ukulele and I can sing. Other than that, I don't have much of a musical background other than listening to music 24/7.  I grew up in a town called Dacula Georgia, and later moved to Loganville Georgia where I still reside today. I have a huge family, 4 brothers and 2 sisters (I am the youngest child). I love Converse because of how close to home it is and how much of a community I have built since being here. I have an ESA living on campus, her name is Phoebe so feel free to come say hi if you see us walking out on the quad!                                                                          ...
